There will be no dream Carling Cup semi-final match-up with Man City or Liverpool as Man United were unceremoniously bounced from the cup tonight by Crystal Palace 2-1 at Old Trafford after extra time. This was not a case of United battering Palace for 120 minutes and them escaping. Palace played well and deserved to win!
If you have been watching United play for the last month or so, tonight’s result is not that surprising. United have been struggling to score goals and create chances, but have managed to win games 1-0 to keep in touch of league leaders City. But at some point it had to catch up with United and tonight it did.

Manchester United have been drawn against Chelsea in the Champions League quarter-finals, with the first leg at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday 6 April. The second leg at Old Trafford will be on Wednesday 13 April.
It is a repeat of the 2008 Final, which United won on penalties in Moscow, the only time we have met in European competition previously.
Should United beat Chelsea they will face the winners of current holders Inter and Schalke in the semi-final. The first leg would be away on Tuesday 26 April. The second leg at home would be on Wednesday 4 May.
