SAF: No Player Is Bigger Than The manager Or The Club

by David on January 27, 2012

Sir Alex Ferguson has told his Manchester United superstars that the club will DIE if they ever become more important than him.

Fergie claims one of the factors behind his remarkable success at Old Trafford is that he has always been seen as the figurehead during his 25 years as manager at the club. And in what could be seen as a veiled warning to Wayne Rooney, Ferguson claims no player can ever be allowed to successfully challenge his supremacy.

“I said it to the directors 15 years ago, maybe more than 15 years ago: You have to remember that the most important person at Manchester United is the manager,” said SAF. “The minute a footballer becomes more important than the manager, your club is dead – the history of this club goes down the drain. I am the most important man at Manchester United. It has to be that way.”
